Kodiak Audubon's March Program

Make it your Big Year-Discover Local Birds with Audubon

Kodiak Audubon Society’s March Program is a free movie night and owling outing after the movie.
We will screen the movie The Big Year on Friday, March 30, 2012  at 7:00 p.m.in room 128-130 at the Kodiak College in the Benny Benson Building.

In The Big Year, an extraordinary race becomes a transformative journey for wealthy industrialist Stu (Steve Martin), computer code-writer Brad (Jack Black), and successful contractor Kenny (Owen Wilson), who race across the continent on a “Big Year,” a whirlwind competition to see who can identify the most species of birds in North American within one calendar year.

Join us after the movie to make it your Big Year and discover local birds with Audubon. Please dress warmly if you plan to join us for owling after the movie.

Hi all, The 2011 Kodiak CBC is less than a month away, on Saturday, 17
December 2011. Please let me know if you are interested in participating in the field or at a feeder.

For most participants, the field component will be a dawn to dusk affair, although acomodations will be made for people with less time to spend, and especially for people bringing children.

The field parties are organized prior to count day, so please email or call me if you want to participate or have any questions about the count.

If you or anyone you know would like to participate at a bird feeder, please email or call me and I will answer questions and/or send you the 2011 Feeder Form.

Count results will be compiled at a post-count pot luck at Claudia and Stosh Anderson's house for all participants and their families.

There will be a presentation on the Winter Birds of Kodiak at the December Kodiak Audubon Society meeting on Friday, 9 December. The meeting will be at Kodiak College in the Benny Benson Bldg, Room 166. (Free) pizza will be served at 6:30, and the presentation will begin at 7:00.
